Sound

I liked that the home tasks included the exploration of sound because it gave me the chance to think about what sorts of sounds I'd put over the different video sequences I'd made. I really liked the idea of reciting poetry over the simple video of me making tea -- because the angle (being in my shirt pocket) made it all seem much more aggressive and chaotic at a very quick pace. I have known the Jabberwocky poem by heart since childhood and thought it would be interesting to have a very slow and solemn recording of it be the backdrop to the video I shot. I wasn't able to put them together however but liked at least to explore the idea. I tried a similar thing with the short piece about 'Interference' particularly digital interference and safety. I thought it'd be interesting to juxtapose the seriousness of the topic with a very upbeat and curious backtrack that makes me giggle every time I watch it. I also liked exploring different and incessant clicking sounds I could make with my tongue because the human body is very versatile in sound-making, in comparison to a lot of creatures, we have a concept of music and musical variety that makes sound very interesting but is not necessarily something unique to us, we simply can't hear the same frequencies in the same ways as other animals do.
