Adapting Collage Into Paintings

Though I very much enjoy painting and it is perhaps even my preferred art form I found that we didn't really get a chance to do very much in the area. The collages took a lot longer for me than perhaps they should have because I couldn't quite find the motivation or passion to have one idea and work on it consistently. I was indecisive and it took me a while to work with the prompt "noise" to make something that I felt would work. I also only had the metro newspaper and a Kellogs cereal box to use as collage material which perhaps restricted me a lot.

Coming up with a painting or an idea to paint from these collages was also very difficult for me, because I wanted to focus on the idea of presenting 'political noise', 'internal noise' and 'digital noise' in some way, but couldn't really find the inspiration to use the elements from the collages. I tried to make a simple sketch about internal toil, detrimental mental health and personal confusion which is something that is very important to me in many ways. I tried to focus on the ideas in my first collage to created these but ended up going with a portrait style piece (as I've always leant toward this area). I got very caught up in the detail of the drawing that I didn't quite manage to actually paint it, but I plan to explore using water colour to enhance the piece and give it more life and focus.
