Reflection

I found the 15 tasks to be an interesting exploration of new perspectives, materials and methods. Though, I would have liked to put more effort into it -- everything seemed a bit rushed both in the lesson and when doing the work on my own in isolation. I would like to be more bold and confident in my mark making and artistic expression, as these pieces were very quick and felt quite unsure most of the time.

I did really enjoy making the piece about remaking something (origami butterfly), and also the idea behind the "breadcrumbs of money". The whole project made me think a lot about society, expectations we have and goals/aims that people work toward. Wealth is a big part of 'the meaning of life' for many people -- simply because of the capitalist world we live in. I'd like to further explore the social rules list I wrote up as it is an interesting concept, they may not really exist but because of the way we live it seems like there are so many rules, expectations and inherent 'right and wrongs'.

It was definitely fun to let loose and be 'playful' for once with the art, not necessarily worrying about the standard or trying to make it final or absolutely perfect, simply exploring various prompts and trying to be fast with the responses we made. Which of course, reflects the project brief "trigger response", where we should be thinking about the playful imaginative ideas that come straight to mind rather than trying to edit that raw inspiration to be something more acceptable in an adult world.
