Llew Mejia

Mejia's work caught my attention because he is often described as a 'designer'. This could extend between communication and design easily. His work is very pattern based and thus is viewed as graphic design -- used for surfaces, backgrounds and other products. It's very illustrative, it may not tell a narrative for every piece, but there are elements within his work -- such as the piece for jungle design. It's quite beautiful how he uses colour and the softness of line, though these are all obviously computer-generated, there is a lot of basis in organic shapes and hand-drawn designs. His colour choices also make it more graphic in appearance because of the boldness of colour that is often used as techniques in sales and advertising, as well as the designs for various products. They are all very nice to look at though, because of the juxtaposition between light coloured images and dark-toned backgrounds.
